BSQ Magazine sat with Jerome Watkins Creator & Owner of L & R Clothing to get an insight look on what motivates them to stay focused, how the name came about and the future of the brand!
BSQ: How did the name L & R come?
L & R: The name L & R came in to concept after a discussion regarding untrustworthy communications in business and environment. From there we decided to create a lifestyle that would allow anybody that’s supporting the movement to have access to loyal business partners no matter the field of business or location. Basically erasing all social barriers created by today’s politics gangs and religions.
L & R stands for Loyalty & Royalty which we later turned into a clothing company after our first logo created for promotion was perceived as a tee-shirt design. L & R also is represented by 12:18 which is the numeric version of L & R. Then we took the 12:18 concept and made it into Roman numerals which is now our most known phrase XIIXVIII.
BSQ: Where do you get your design inspiration?
L & R: Most of our design inspiration comes from long thought concepts to make everything make sense or interact with something else created. Basically giving us a platform to create different saying and phrases that we have now. Most of our product released to date aren’t are designs that we would use when we say we released a design. They mostly consist of the updated logo and various slogans. Come the beginning of 2012 seeing that we got a lot of positive feed back were gonna release our first series titled “KiLLEN TiME 12:18″ not to be confused with the act of killing but to gain knowledge of the act of killen time with loyalty to attain royalty.
BSQ: What inspired you to create a clothing line?
L & R: The inspiration of the clothing line came for a lifestyle that we actually created to better our society with loyal beliefs, from there the concept was too golden not to be a clothing company.
BSQ: How long has the company been around for?
L & R: The Concept of the Lifestyle itself was created on New years Day of 2010 kind of like a new years resolution. We turned it into a clothing company maybe 6-7 months after that.
BSQ: What do you wish people would understand about L & R fashion?
L & R: We would like people to understand this isn’t your ordinary clothing company looking to be the next best line
but we are hear to spread the theory of loyalty. Expanding knowledge on the word Loyalty itself and by sticking to that with communications or and organization you can only attain Royalty.
BSQ: What one piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to start-up a fashion line?
L & R:
. That would cause rushing and unoriginality, great clothing companies either take dedication, long thought, and hard work. Or like we managed to do a concept and a persistence that would cause it to fall in place on its on.
BSQ: Will L&R clothing bring more on the table in the future? (clothes, accessory, etc)?
L & R: In the near future we look to make advancements into hand crafted unique and designed products that would further differentiate us from a basic clothing line to a clothing company. We have a couple new accessories and designs releasing with the update of our website for the upcoming seasons. Some items like recently pre-viewed bandannas, beanies, Hats, pins, and the list goes on.
Special Thanks to L & R Owners Jerome Watkins, Justin Moore, Joshua Segura & their entire L & R staff!
